HELP TARA'S GARDEN GROW

Tara’s Garden is an annual fundraiser that serves as a memorial event
which honors the life of

Tara Rose Willenborg.

Through community, generosity, and shared purpose,
Tara’s Garden continues to grow and spread joy to
her loved ones and strangers alike.

Each year, we donate the fundraiser proceeds to three causes
that Tara was involved with or passionate about.

Love Wins: An Ongoing Tradition

At Tara's memorial service, the pastor at UCC read from a passage in the Bible that speaks about the power of love in times of hardship. He conveyed that, while it's easier to lean into hatred or anger in times of extreme grief, choosing love is how we honor those who we leave behind.

"Love Wins" became a message of resilience and hope and togetherness to a grieving community, and it's meaning has continued to resonate throughout the years.

Each year, a new "Love Wins" design is produced to align with the theme and vision for the event.

Stickers and/or pins are produced that reflect the annual design, and it continues to be a popular engagement for the community, to show their support for this cause by adorning their
"Love Wins" memorabilia.

Honoring Her Life

Tara’s life was tragically taken due to a senseless act of violence. While her loss continues to be heartbreaking, her family and community have chosen to honor her by focusing on the love she gave, the causes she believed in, and the positive change that can grow from intentional action.

Tara’s Garden exists not as a reminder of how she was taken from us, but as a tribute to how she lived and how incredibly loved she was.

About Tara Rose

Tara was vibrant, compassionate, and deeply connected to the people and animals around her. She had an infectious personality, a generous spirit, and a strong sense of justice. Tara believed in second chances, personal growth, and showing up for others — values that continue to guide Tara’s Garden today.

Just weeks before her passing, Tara earned her GED at the age of 17,  through River Valley Resources — a milestone that reflected her sense of determination. She loved animals, cherished her family, and had a gift for making people feel seen and valued.
